Hundreds of Somalis were forced by al-Shabaab Islamists to watch the execution of two men who were accused of espionage.
Militiamen with loudspeakers went around the city to urge people to attend the executions. The militants had schools closed as they wanted as many people as possible to watch the two men being shot dead by the firing squad, the BBC reported.
The Shabaab are in power in large parts of southern and Central Somalia. The group fights against the current government, which enjoys international support.
The Shabaab movement is doing everything to involve young people in its struggle. Earlier this month the Islamists organized a quiz for young people to join the holy war against enemies of Allah. The 17-year old winner of the quiz received one AK-47 machine gun and grenades.
