Where in Africa can you find the most beautiful season? We are leaving the answer up to you... All you have to do is to upload a photo you have taken of an African season onto our Facebook page. Whoever receives the most 'likes' on our page will win a Canon digital camera!
In the meantime, to spark your imagination, during the month of August we are asking our African correspondents to send us their 'seasonal snaps'. Today we feature a photo taken by Zambian correspondent, Mwansa Pintu.
What a wonderful time! It’s that time of the year when the Luapula River is nicely calm and quiet. Its waters are peaceful and seem to beckon you to jump in and swim. Children and adults alike spend most of their days in its waters – either fishing or swimming.
The Luapula River, which flows through the warm Luapula Valley in northern Zambia, creates the boundary between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In certain places, such as this one, it is so narrow that villagers on either sides of the river cross within seconds and without passports. To the people here, immigration laws do not apply.
In the picture, children on the Zambian side, salute the writer as he took their photograph. In the background (green vegetation), is the DRC.
