Pakistan suicide car bombing kills dozens

Published on 1 January 2010 - 5:13pm
More about:

A suicide bomb attack in Pakistan has killed dozens of people. Local media speak of 70 casualties, police say 45 people died. Dozens of others have been injured.

Police say the suicide bomber drove a car packed with explosives onto a volleyball pitch in the town of Lakki Marwat. The blast caused several houses to collapse. Pakistani police say the bombing is likely a revenge attack by the Taliban. Local residents responded by calling for the creation of a local militia to fight the Taliban.
