No special treatment for Obama's family

Published on 21 September 2009 - 2:30pm
More about:

US President Barack Obama and his family will not be given priority in the vaccination campaign against the Mexican flu.

In an interview on the CNN news channel, Mr Obama said: "We want to get vaccinated. We think it's the right thing to do. We will stand in line like everybody else and when folks say it's our turn, that's when we will get it."

First in line to get the A(H1N1) vaccine will be emergency services personnel, followed by pregnant women and children with underlying conditions. The president said he did not expect to get vaccinated any time soon because he does not fall into a high-risk category: "I suspect that I may come fairly far down the line."

Rather sad to see supposedly intelligent and educated people fall for this fear mongering! Thousands of people all over the world die from car accidents than from any type of flu.
