Nigerian militants in the Niger delta say they have attacked two oil pipelines owned by the Shell oil company. The attacks took place in the federal state of Rivers in the east of the Niger delta.
The MEND rebel movement has claimed responsibility for the acts of sabotage. The group fights for a larger share of the oil revenues for the population of the Niger delta. In a reaction, Shell says the attacks appear to have had little impact on production.
