New flu strain spreading quickly

Published on 4 December 2009 - 5:27pm
More about:

A new mutated strain of the swine flu is claiming lives in more and more countries. The latest victim is a man in Spain.

Before that, the strain claimed lives in the Netherlands, Norway, France and Mexico. The flu virus is known to mutate rapidly. The Dutch health authorities say the same happens with the seasonal flu virus. A mutated strain of the Influenza A (H1N1) is particularly dangerous if it is transmitted from human to human. No such cases have so far been recorded.
