A molotov cocktail has been thrown at the house of Rwandan opposition politician Victoire Ingabire. The Kigali police confirmed to Radio Netherlands Worldwide that a water bottle filled with petrol was found in her courtyard.
Around eight o’clock in the evening Boniface Twagirimana, vice-president of the opposition party United Democratic Forces (UDF), was watching television in Ingabire’s house. Mr Twagirimana: “I heard a weird sound and went outside to have a look. There was a big fire in the garden and I found the burning bottle. Then I called the police."
The police has started an investigation but haven't arrested any suspect. Ingabire’s house has not been damaged. Victoire Ingabire, opposition leader of the UDF, is currently in prison in Kigali, waiting for her trial. She is charged by the Rwandan prosecution for “association with a terrorist group, propagation of the ideology of genocide, revisionism and ‘sectarianism’.”
