Congolese cartoonist Thembo Kash is unveiling six of his unpublished drawings exclusively for RNW’s Africa Desk. The independent artist living in Kinshasa had created them for a daily newspaper close to the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo, but they were turned down.
“They were refused for reasons you can divine,” says Kash. “They don’t want to get in trouble. My drawings are the best, but also the worst, thing that could happen for their business.”
Kash’s work is frequently seen in the newspaper Le Potentiel. The Africa Desk is proud to present a series of six narrated cartoons, in which the artist explains his work. Click below.
