Italian ISAF troops killed in Kabul attack

Published on 17 September 2009 - 12:43pm
More about:

At least 16 people, including six Italian soldiers, have been killed in a suicide attack in the Afghan capital Kabul. Dozens of people were injured in the car bombing.

The attack targetted an International Security and Assistance Force convoy of Italian NATO soldiers. It was travelling on the road from Kabul's high-security diplomatic quarter to the international airport in the city's northeast.

Foreign ISAF troops, including Dutch soldiers, are stationed at the airport. Taliban rebels have claimed responsibility for the attack.
