The Israeli air force has carried out reprisal attacks on a number of targets in the Gaza Strip, slightly injuring two people.
The attacks are in response a rocket attack from Gaza on Thursday in which a Thai farm worker was killed.
Shortly before the attacks Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on the phone to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The chat was intended to improve soured relations between the two countries after an Israeli announcement to build 1600 homes in occupied East Jerusalem.
The timing of last week’s announcement, during a visit by US Vice President Joe Biden, who was in Israel to pave the way for indirect talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians, particularly incensed the Americans.
The Middle East Quartet – made up of the United Nations, the United States, the European Union and Russia – is due to discuss the latest developments at a meeting in Russia today.

Don't fire rockets into Israel and you will not see reprisals on the Gaza Strip. Simple, very simple. {If you are walking down the street and someone attacks you, don't you defend yourself or expect the police to defend you? The UN will not stop the attacks therefore, Israel must defend itself.
It looks like a hopeless case for there to ever be peace with the two sides.
