Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has appointed two women to his cabinet. This is the first time women have ever been appointed to a government post in the Islamic republic.
A 50-year-old gynaecologist has been appointed Minister of Health and a 43-year-old MP is to become Minister of Social Affairs. A third woman may also be appointed in the new cabinet.
