Uncertainty surrounding the impasse in Guinea Conakry is forcing Guineans to flee their country. Reports say that about 200 Guineans have been registered to have entered Senegal through its borders with the troubled West African nation.

The refugees are said to have entered between Monday and Tuesday in a village called Dindéfélo, some 35 km south of Kedougou in Northern Senegtal.

According to a local correspondent based in the region, the refugees claimed that they fear the possible outcome of the reported attempt on the life of the country’s junta leader by the rogue army lieutenant, Aboubacar Diakite.

"This situation highlights the instability and instills fear", one of the fleeing refugees was quoted by Seneweb.com.

The refugees accused armed men of harassment, alleging that innocent people and their properties are particularly targeted by the abusers. They also appealed to the international community to intervene.

Moutarou Diallo, said to be the head of the group of refugees said, "An old man like me would not walk over 100 km for nothing. We are tired of being humiliated, tired of being hostages of the military."

The party which include the old, women and children, hope to return some day to Guinea, but they maimed that this will not happen until a normal situation is re-established in their country, which means the military returning to the barracks.
