Former East German athlete Gesine Tetternborn wants her name scrapped from the record books.
The sprinter asked the German athletics association to remove her name because she used doping to win in the 1980s.
Ms Tettenborn does not want to be partially responsible for doping in the next generation of sportswomen. She says as long as her name is in the record books, sportswomen will do anything to try to break her records.
Under her maiden name Gesine Walther, the sprinter won the 4 x 400 metre relay in 1984 setting a world record. The record had not yet been broken.
