The government is to review Dutch anti-terrorism policy introduced after the 9/11 attacks.

The move follows the publication of a report by the Suyver Commission which criticised anti-terrorism measures brought in after 2001 as poorly co-ordinated. It said it was unclear who was responsible for what at national and local level. The authors of the report interviewed the country's leading anti-terrorist figures who said they felt they had enough powers.

Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin and Interior Minister Guusje ter Horst say the commission understands that the cabinet introduced the measures at speed. The ministers believe every opportunity to improve anti-terrorist policies should be taken advantage of.
