The movie Teza (Ethiopia, 2008) has been awarded Best Movie at the film festival Africa in the Picture 2009. Voodoo Women (Cuba, 2008) was voted best short film by the public.
Teza is a poetic movie on Anberber who goes back home to the countryside to visit his mother. It's a film on the turbulent history of Ethiopia. Teza also won the Etalon D'or at the Yennenga 2009 in Burkina Faso.
The Cuban documentary Voodoo Woman tells the story of Carlos who meets a Santeria priest and devotes himself to this ancient African religion. This brings a major change to his life. Carlos decides to transform himself into a woman and becomes Carolina.
This autobiographical movie is about tolerance and self acceptance. The director Carolina Valencia tells us about the intimate parts of her life. Below is an interview with her:
