Ivory Coast - the 'Cocoa Republic' - wasn't able to welcome the participants of the first African Chocolate Championship, due to lack of budget.
The event, in which ten teams from all parts of the continent would compete, was to take place in the country's capital Abidjan from 28 to 30 May. There was only one little problem: the world's biggest producer of cocoa (40 percent of the annual global production), didn't have the money to accommodate its guests, according to Ivoir-Presse/Abidjan.net (in French).
